The world never looks the same after you’ve had a monumental shift in perception and awareness.
Your family and friends look the same but your reaction to them is different and their reactions to you are different too.
It’s almost as if you are seeing through different eyes. That somehow a veil has been lifted from your eyes and seeing clearly is the only way you can see now.
A shift of focus occurs. A shift of thought occurs. A shift of emotion occurs. You are irrevocably changed. The catalyst for this change can be something simple or a catastrophic event.
It’s odd at first because you almost feel as if the world changed instead of yourself. As if the world shifted its focus.
This changing of perception is a natural event in everyone’s life. It occurs at different times throughout your life.
In any case…
Change is inevitable and the world around you never looks or feels the same.
The only thing you can do after such an event is – move forward. Embrace the new or reawakened feelings within yourself. And acknowledge that you are on the right path for yourself.
Change is about moving forward and moving forward changes you. This is life.
Weird concept, I know, but it’s true for me. The more I leave comments on other blogs, the better my word choices have become.
I always read my comments before I click post (it’s only logical), that way I can check for typos and make sure that what I mean is reflected within my words.
Simple things result in the biggest changes it seems.
My writing has become tighter. In other words (lol) my writing has become more concise and to the point. I don’t nit-pick my words, criticize myself for the word choices, or grab the nearest thesaurus to choose a better word. And I don’t over analyze my words.
Instead I focus on what it is I really want to say and then let the words flow.
It’s all in the focus and the flow of conscious writing. And it’s flowing into my everyday writing. Even while writing this post I can feel how my mind is looking at the words as they ebb and flow on the screen, making sure that they state what I mean with clarity.
So again, it all comes back to focus. That is interesting.

A writing experiment for myself (aside from the whole nanowrimo thing lol) writing one thing everyday means to handwrite something. Write in a journal/notebook/, on a napkin, envelope, back of your hand…etc.
I found myself losing focus while writing. My mind skipping ahead to chapter two even though I was still typing chapter one. So I thought I’d try something to help me slow and just breathe for a minute before writing.
Here’s what I’m doing:
1. Getting back morning Meditations and a kind of meditating through movement in the afternoons.
2. Easing back on the coffee.
3. Walking more outside, not on a treadmill.
4. Writing in a journal before slamming away on the keyboard.
Simple things that so far have been good for me. I’ve only been at it for about three days (not counting the weekend because I’m only doing this M-F) though so it’s probably too early on to decide anything definite. lol
Now if I can only get the one thing to be about the nanowrimo work in progress…….
