Icefest 2013

The weekend zipped by way too fast for my liking but it was fun nonetheless.

We went to an annual event  – Icefest- in which ice sculptures are displayed on the main street in the downtown area. There are about 50 (or so ) sculptures lined up on the sidewalk. A good many of them were already starting the melting process by the time we arrived. Well it was 52 degrees on Saturday. Some of the sculptures were losing the details on the facial areas.

It was interesting to see the details that the artists were able to carve into the blocks of ice.   I took photos of just about all of them. Some just had too many people around them to get a clear shot.

Even though I didn’t get to the bookfest part of Icefest, it was fun and I plan on going again next year.

Here are a few of the photos.

Oh Yeah!

Friday, Friday, Friday.

I’m glad to know ya Friday.

Really. Truthfully. Honestly.

Friday heralds the beginning of the weekend and I can sleep in on the weekends (for now anyway). However, sleeping in usually means I get up at 9 instead of 7. I would like it if my stomach would just let me sleep in til, say….11:00. That would be a bonus.

This weekend I plan on going to a local bookfest that features a few free writing workshops. The writer’s groups workshop is what I have my mind set on.

Whatever you are doing this weekend have fun doing it.

p.s. creativity is universal.

The Tuesday Ten

I like lists.

No really, I love them. Making lists should be a career choice and if it were then I would rule that career path. (ha!)

I figured I would give to you ten websites to visit today (or in the nearest future)

So without further ramblings, I give you the The Tuesday Ten. (it’s a list in case you were wondering)

1. Kim Harrison‘s website. Awesome urban fantasy author. My favorite in that genre to be exact but that is not the only reason to visit her site> Kim has some very good tips for aspiring writers, recipes, gardening tips, info about other authors in the genre, and she posts daily (M-F) on her blog.

2. Creativa Convergence – Check out this blog for local happenings in the art world. The artists covered here range from bands to poets to dancers to artists in a ll mediums. They also have a monthly open mic event on the second Saturday of each month.

3. This Poetry site – Because every one needs a little (or a lot) of poetry in their universe.(it’s

4. Art website – Chad Rasmussen is a great local artist.

5. website – The truth is out there, it’s written in the stars if you know where to look. This site can assist you in looking beyond the clouds, or at least knowing what’s beyond them.

6. Tiny house Blog – I would love to build my own home someday and maybe this is the way to do it.

7. Gardening the Farmer’s Almanac way – Getting my hands dirty is always a good thing.

8. Ghosts – Do you believe? Either way check out The Ghosts Of Ohio, a fun and informative site.

9. Encyclopedia Mythica  – Tales from the past can help guide the future.

10. Google homepage and type in the first word that enters your mind then follow it and see what you find.

I hope you found the list both useful and fun.

Happy Tuesday!

p.s. Draw something today, indulge your creative side, make pancakes, or listen to a bit of music that you haven’t heard in a while. In other words – make it fun for yourself today.

Little Black Spot On The Sun Today……

Happy Venus Transit Day!

Well if you haven’t heard – Venus is transiting the Sun today and most of the world will be able to see it happening.

5. Dateline

Google this and you will find a lot more than what I’ve listed here. But I know that you know that – you guys are smart like that.  🙂

And remember to use appropriate eye protection whilst staring at the glaring Sun today. Just a gentle reminder, even though again – I know that you know that. 😉

Slideshow Of an Open Mic Event

Creativa Cincinnati at the Cincinnati Mall Saturday April 14, 2012. We had some great performers of music and the written word. If you are in the area (or planning on being in the area, or passing through) and you would like to see a unique open mic event then check out Creativa. You can stop in and get inspired, perform, network with like minded creative people, or just sit back and listen.
